Claredale House

2012/2013

Claredale is a newly-refurbished 4-storey block of flats arranged around an internal courtyard with lockable gates. There are 246-single study rooms which are grouped into 59 flats, with between two and seven bedrooms per flat. Each room has internet access and each flat has shared cooking, shower, toilet facilities and a phone line for incoming calls only.

The rooms within the flats are all centrally-heated, fully-furnished and have lockable doors. Rooms vary in size and consequently we have different price bands to choose from. We split the flats up into all-male, all-female and mixed. We also have some flats for mature students. We’ll do our best to accommodate your preference, but we’re sorry, we can’t guarantee it.

Each flat has its own kitchen with cooker, microwave and fridge/freezer. You will need to bring your own pots and pans, cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery. Each bedroom is furnished with a bed, wardrobe, bedside cabinet, desk, chair and shelving. There is a TV aerial socket in each bedroom but you will need a TV licence for your own TV. Residents are responsible for keeping the communal areas of the flats clean as well as their own rooms. Vacuum cleaners can be hired and bin bags are free of charge.

There is a limited number of parking spaces. A £100 deposit is required to secure a parking space.

During office hours the building is staffed by John and Angela, who manage the halls. Maintenance and caretaking duties are carried out by Leroy and Pat. The building is covered outside of office hours by subwardens, who are fellow students, so if there is ever an emergency there is always somebody available to help.
